Through research programs funded by science and technology R&D organizations within the U.S. Department of Defense, the research and development team in FAST Labs collaborate across the enterprise. On this team, you ll have the opportunity to create and develop advanced technology capabilities in the areas of advanced electronics, autonomy, cyber, electronic warfare, and sensors and processing.

FAST Labs is seeking a Senior Principal FPGA Design Engineer to join our creative team.

**The Role:** In this role, you will have opportunities to work as an FPGA Designer on a cross functional team made up of Scientists, Systems/Software/Hardware Engineers, and Program Management under the guidance of a Chief Engineer on research programs. In this role you will:

Translate Requirements into Hardware Description Language (HDL) designs

Evaluate FPGA performance using simulation tools

Resolve code synthesis issues

Create design documentation

Mentor and share your knowledge with junior FPGA engineers.

Support Systems and Software Engineers on Integration of FPGA Designs in a laboratory environment

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship.

Because of the need for intermittent in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform a portion of work onsite, this position will be considered **hybrid** . This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility as well as remotely, when applicable.

**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**

8 years of FPGA (strongly preferred) or ASIC Design / Development experience with Bachelor's Degree (less with advanced degree)

Ability to distill higher level requirements into micro-architecture

Current Secret Security Clearance, or eligible to obtain one

**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**

Experience with ADC/DAC, JESD, PCIe, Ethernet interfaces

Experience with creating FPGA designs based on Matlab/Simulink model

Current Top Secret Security Clearance, or eligible to obtain one
