RISE Open Rotor Systems Test Engineer

**Job Description Summary**

The RISE Open Rotor Systems Test Engineering position is a leadership role for an advance technology demonstrator engine asset. The intent is to mature the technology for incorporation into the fielded product configuration. The results from the demonstrator will be used to validate models and verify the ability to meet regulatory certification requirements.

This is a joint demonstrator engine program in support of CFM. The goal is to provide a quality product that meets the airframe's needs. Verification the design is properly integrated and executed. Working with the cross functional teams is essential for the success of the program.

**Job Description**

**Roles and Responsibilities**

+ Strong interaction with the customer to shape system-level requirements.

+ Develop and execute qualification plans that satisfy the certification requirements of the product.

+ Interact with Qualification authorities to ensure product qualifications are meet and certified.

+ Responsible for a test engine as part of the qualification process, developing the engine test mission purpose and requirements, ensuring all necessary hardware required for successful test mission completion is installed, and resolving any engine-level issues during pre-test build and test execution.

+ Execute required action plans needed to resolve system-level issues.

+ Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

+ Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project.

+ Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

+ Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

+ Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.

+ Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.

+ Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

+ Work with a variety of engineering organizations and contribute to the development of the engine systems and designs.

+ Provide the opportunity to understand and apply detailed physics to analysis of engine components.

+ Plan and execute component and engine test programs and utilize the results to validate engine designs, systems and analytical models.

+ Some travel will be required to support the test program, as well as interfacing with our CFM partner.

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on mechanical or aerothermal design) from an accredited college or university.

+ Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering position

+ Ability and willingness to travel as required to support the test program, as well as interfacing without CFM partner.

**Desired Characteristics**

+ Experience in aviation engine qualification and certification

+ Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.

+ Strong oral and written communication skills

+ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

+ High level of computer proficiency

+ Master’s degree in mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to turbomachinery design, testing, or systems engineering.

+ Talented, highly motivated with good engineering judgment

+ Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional teamwork environment.

+ Engineering experience in GE Aviation turbomachinery systems integration or similar systems engineering role.

+ Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

+ Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

+ Established project management skills.
