**Financial Coordinator - Hematology & Oncology**
First shift, fulltime position
Four Weekdays (Roughly 9:30am to 6:00pm) & Saturday shifts(Roughly 6:30am to 2:30pm)
The Financial Coordinator position is responsible for obtaining prior authorizations from insurance companies for imaging services, in-patient admissions and surgeries. Provides insurance-related information (in-network/out-of-network), referring patient to Financial Counselor. Communicates effectively with the clinical and scheduling team about patients that need to be rescheduled due to no authorization or referral. He/she provides excellent customer service to our customer; outpatients, inpatient, patient's family and internal customers. + Obtains prior authorizations for STAT imaging services and in-patient admissions
+ Secures referrals and/or authorizations for office visits and office procedures
+ Maintains various work queues, including: Self-pay, charity care, Apheresis, Photopheresis, Out-of-Network, Bone Marrow, Speech Pathology and therapeutic phlebotomy
+ Obtains prior authorizations and referral authorizations for in patient surgeries
+ Coordinates consolidating billing with SNFs
+ Obtains insurance benefit details
+ Accurately completes Epic referral
+ Communicates effectively with the clinical and scheduling team about patients that need to have their appointment, test, procedure or surgery cancelled due to no authorization or referral
+ Follows up on all pending prior authorization requests on a daily basis
+ Utilizes all resources available to obtain clinical information in a timely manner that is required to obtain authorization
+ Assists with denials
+ Responds to Epic staff messages and emails by end of day
+ Identifies out of network patients and self-pay patients and notifies them of financial risk/obligations
+ Refers appropriate patient population to Financial Counselors
+ Sets up peer to peers or appeals as needed
+ Train new staff
+ Other duties as assigned
**Position Qualifications Include:**
+ High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred
+ Basic knowledge of medical terminology
+ Has a good understanding of insurance plans (benefits) and contracts (in/out network)
+ Understands basic concepts as they pertain to registration and insurance
+ Two years of previous experience in a medical healthcare environment as a Patient Access Coordinator, Biller/Collector or Financial Coordinator/Counselor
+ Previous experience with obtaining prior authorizations preferred
+ Bilingual proficiency is desirable
+ Must be able to work weekdays from 9:30am-6:00pm and Saturday's from 7:00am-3:30pm
+ Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team
+ Excellent written and verbal skills·
+ Ability to multitask and priorities work to meet performance metrics
+ Basic knowledge of MS Office products with the ability to create and manipulate electronic documents and spreadsheets.
