RN/LPN POSITION SUMMARY:
The RN/LPN NURSE is responsible for direct nursing care to residents as well as supervising the daily nursing activities by CNAs in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and Deerfield standards to ensure the highest quality care at all times. RN/LPN Nurse reports to DON or ADON (or other Nursing Supervisor).
RN/LPN NURSE WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Works in office as well as throughout facility (i.e., resident rooms, therapy rooms, dietary).
•Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
•Involved with residents, associates, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all conditions and circumstances.
•Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
•Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends, holidays, on different shifts, different assignments, and/or level of care as necessary.
•Participates in the Nursing on call rotation as needed (covering and managing staffing, resident, family issues that may arise during off hours)
•Attends and participates in continuing education programs.
•Subject to frequent interruptions, falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day.
•Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
•Will be required to wear PPE that can consist of (disposable gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, shoe covers, gait belts, mech-lifts)
RN/LPN NURSE EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
•Must have a Nursing degree from accredited college (minimum ADN or LPN).
•Must be currently registered/licensed with applicable state.
•Must stay up to date with CEU requirements to maintain nursing license
•Must have 12 hours of continuing education each year, to include annual trainings required by state agencies
•One year of geriatric nursing preferred.
•Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
RN/LPN NURSE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
•Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
•Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing nursing functions in the long-term care facility, including understanding of and participation in QAPI as needed.
•Must possess ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
•Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the nursing department, including participation in QAPI.
•Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and complaint procedures.
RN/LPN NURSE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
•Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
•Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
•Must be able to effectively direct the daily functions of the unit and CNAs.
•Must be able to chart appropriately, timely and accurately in accordance with all facility policies
•Must be able to administer clinical services (i.e. Urinary Catheters, IV Starts, Enteral Feedings, Obtaining Labs) appropriately.
•Must be able to accurately prepare and administer medication as ordered by physician.
•Must be able to accurately prepare and perform treatments as ordered by physician and possess the ability to provide first aid
•Must be able to adhere, transcribe, follow, and document all care, services, and orders directed by the physician.
•Must be able to manage emergency situations related to resident and staff safety in a designated capacity.
•Must practice dependable, regular attendance.
•Must be able to lift 40 lbs. floor to waist; lift 10 lbs. waist to shoulder; lift and carry 40 lbs.; and push/pull 40 lbs.
