Job Summary
Supervises and instructs teammates working in a section of the Laboratory. Assures that section's objectives are accomplished effectively, efficiently, and economically. Oversees quality, compliance and performance.

Essential Functions
  • Implements quality, efficiency and safety in performance and instruction of teammates working in a section of the laboratory.
  • Evaluates and implements new procedures.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and inventories supplies.
  • Schedules and evaluates workload to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • Conducts orientation and training with documentation.
  • Manages quality assurance programs.
  • Investigates and documents all occurrence/variance reports on supervised sections of the laboratory.
Physical Requirements
Works in a busy environment around physicians, technologists, and other hospital teammates. Works in an area which contains biohazardous (infectious) materials along with chemical, fire and mechanical hazards. Each teammate has the responsibility to work in a safe manner. May be required to stoop, reach and lift light (20 pounds) to moderately heavy (50 pounds) loads.

Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required. ASCP Registered Technologist with a minimum of 4 years clinical lab experience required. Advanced Technical Certification or Specialty and additional years of pertinent supervisory experience preferred.
