POSITION SUMMARY

PURPOSE
Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive patient care services.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the ongoing process of healthcare delivery, procedures, and equipment in the care of the patient on ECMO and/or care of the ECMO circuit.
  • Participate in the educational process related to the delivery of healthcare.
  • Manage the environment for the delivery of care.
  • Participate in the discharge planning process.
  • Provide educational activities and orientation designed to improve clinical competence.
  • Promote department, professional practice, and organizational goals.
  • Pursue educational and leadership opportunities to enhance professional growth and clinical expertise.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrates competence as described in the employee competencies.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to supervisor or Compliance Office.
  • Provides excellent service routinely in interactions with all customers, i.e. coworkers, patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, etc.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Respiratory Therapist in the State of Colorado.
  • Degree from an accredited academic clinical program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication, assessment and patient care skills, as well as flexibility and ability to function in a high-stress environment required.
  • Previous experience as an ECMO specialist in a neonatal, cardiac, and/or pediatric care setting preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five years in the Level III NICU or PICU experience required.
  • Must maintain current BCLS, PALS, and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children's ECMO certification.
  • Current national certification in area of practice (RNC, CCRN, etc...) preferred.
