Location Details: 
Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas Healthcare System) Behavioral Health Charlotte, is seeking a certified Psychiatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join their expanding Consult & Liaison Service. Patients receiving treatment at an Atrium Health behavioral health inpatient facility in the Charlotte, NC region, receive care in a safe, nurturing environment. Individualized treatment plans focus on the psychiatric and psychosocial factors related to each patient's need for inpatient care. Often the care provided involves evaluation, stabilization and treatment in a supportive environment that provides 24-hour care. This may include, but is not limited to, those experiencing severe episodes related to depression, bipolar disorders, withdrawal from drug or alcohol addictions, or brain disorders such as schizophrenia. Our treatment goals are to provide the patient with immediate intervention, address the crisis, and transition the patient toward a more productive, healthy lifestyle.
Job Summary:
The PMHNP or PA in this role will provides care to individuals, families, or communities who have common, acute, or chronic mental health problems in collaboration with their supervising physician. The provider will work in a hospitalist type model opposite another ACP, 7 on 7 off day shifts.
Essential Functions:
  • Uses advanced clinical judgment and practice, assess, diagnose, plan implement, intervene, manage, and evaluate holistic plans of care for mental health patients
  • Works collaboratively with psychiatrists and other mental health care providers to deliver quality mental health care to those in need of psychiatric care
  • Formulates and recommends procedures and programmatic policies and formulates nursing policies and procedures to meet continuing and changing needs of the Medication Services Department
  • Provides direction and guidance to staff in matters relating to psychiatric nursing standards
  • Performs a health assessment/examination appropriate to client, presentation, and setting
  • Involves the client in formulating an outcome-based integrated plan of care to maximize optimal well bring
  • Determines and implements appropriate psychotherapy, as well as educational, pharmacological, and other treatment modalities to achieve expected client outcomes
  • Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses are also qualified to evaluate, assess, and monitor other co-morbid medical conditions secondary to the mental illness
Education, Experience and Certifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program required
  • Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in NC
  • Nurse Practitioners: PMHNP certification or 5 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry required    
  • Physician Assistants: CAQ certification in Psychiatry required
