Senior Software Engineer (Linux Kernel) - Remote

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a development team that builds, maintains, and improves Akamai's custom Linux kernel.
As a Software Engineer Senior, you will be responsible for:
+ Developing new features and tuning Linux kernel to improve performance, reliability, and security of Akamai Connected Cloud platform.
+ Porting existing Akamai modifications to newer versions of Linux kernel.
+ Debugging and fixing issues found in a variety of complex test and production environments.
+ Enhancing existing build and test automation to facilitate Continuous testing.
+ Working with the open source community and upstream your work
+ Staying current with upstream Linux kernel and OS changes and emerging industry trends
**Do what you love**
To be successful in this role you will:
+ Have 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
+ Have proficiency in software development in C with a focus on Linux kernel development and be proficient in scripting (Perl/Python/Shell).
+ Possess good understanding of Linux kernel internals ( KVM, TCP/IP stack, memory management, filesystems, block IO).
+ Have knowledge of concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis, and network protocols (TCP/UDP/IP, Ethernet, QUIC, HTTP/TLS).
+ Have experience with Linux kernel debugging.
+ Be a motivated self-starter who enjoys collaborating with others but capable of working independently.

**Compensation**
Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $106,600 - $221,400/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
