Application Developer Mainframe Modernization

**CTG is seeking to fill a SAS Developer opening for our client in Boston, MA.**

**Location:** Remote

**Duration:** 12 months+ contract

**Hourly Rate:** 55-60/hr

**Duties:**

+ Design, develop, and maintain application code for mainframe modernization projects

+ Analyze existing mainframe-based applications and develop plans for modernization using updated technologies

+ Collaborate with business analysts, technical teams, and stakeholders to gather and define system requirements

+ Translate business needs into efficient, scalable, and reliable software solutions

+ Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and support

+ Troubleshoot and resolve performance, application, or system issues in a timely manner

+ Ensure all code and documentation meet the client’s quality and compliance standards

**Skills:**

+ Strong SAS development skills with a focus on modernization initiatives

+ Expertise in SQL, data extraction, and analysis from complex datasets

+ Experience in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, DB2) is a strong plus

+ Knowledge of modern platforms (e.g., cloud services, relational databases, modern programming frameworks) is a plus

+ Ability to work in both agile and traditional development environments

+ Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills

**Experience:**

+ Minimum 6+ years of experience in SAS development

+ Proven experience in large-scale application development or modernization projects

+ Experience with SQL in high-volume data environments

+ Previous experience with mainframe systems and migration efforts preferred

**Education:**

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $55.00/hour to $60.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
