Medical Assistant Apprentice Program Instructor

**Job Description:**

Intermountain Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assistant (MA) Program Instructor. to lead our Medical Assistant Training Program The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and training to aspiring medical assistants, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. This position involves both didactic classroom and clinical lab instruction, with a focus on fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.

The MA Program Instructor will be an expert in industry best education standards supporting and guiding caregivers in self-improvement and self-development. The instructor will assess, guide, support, coordinate, and evaluate caregivers and ongoing learning needs in alignment with their associated program, service or care group. Under the direction of MA Program Learning Manager will be a resource, consultant, and mentor to caregivers and in their assigned area fostering self-reliance and building a clinically excellent team.

**Additional Details:** This is a position to support the Southwest Utah area, including St. George and Cedar City. It may require some travel to clinics and collaboration with all Market Teams.

**Essential Functions**

+ Deliver comprehensive course materials and lesson plans for the Medical Assistant Training Programs.

+ Provide Didactic classroom and hands on lab instruction on various topics, including anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, clinical procedures, and administrative skills.

+ Conduct hands-on clinical training sessions to ensure students gain practical experience in a healthcare setting.

+ Assess student performance through exams, practical evaluations, and assignments, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.

+ Collaborates with Medical Group educators across the enterprise to assure consistency in program development and implementation to on-the-job Medical Assistant training programs

+ Collaborate with other instructors, Clinical Leads, and program coordinators to continuously improve the curriculum and training methods.

+ Stay current with industry trends and advancements in medical assisting to ensure the program remains up-to-date and relevant.

+ Mentor and support students throughout their training, addressing any concerns or challenges they may face.

+ Participate in program development and evaluation to enhance the overall quality of the training programs.

+ Demonstrate instructional methodology with an expertise in curriculum development, assessment strategies, and the use of technology in teaching

+ Demonstrate expertise in simulation training with the ability to create and manage realistic simulation scenarios to enhance hands-on learning

+ May be a part of MA skills and competency check offs.

+ Collaborate with clinical rotation supervision, support, scheduling, and rounding on clinical sites.

**Minimum Qualifications**

+ Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.

+ BLS for healthcare providers

+ Previous teaching or training experience in a healthcare setting with a minimum of 2 years

+ Strong knowledge of medical assisting principles, practices, procedures, and competencies

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.

+ Proficiency in using educational technology and tools to enhance the learning experience.

+ Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment while modeling the Intermountain mission, vision, values, code of conduct, and leadership behaviors

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Previous teaching or training experience in a healthcare setting with a minimum of 2 years

**Physical Requirements**

+ Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess caregiver needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies

+ Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations

+ Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

+ Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items

+ Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc)

+ May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$21.88 - $33.77
