Position Summary:

The MLT performs routine and specialized clinical lab tests for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by physicians.

Responsibilities

+ Performs all routine and specialized lab tests trained for as assigned.

+ Runs, maintains and or repairs laboratory equipment.

+ Performs and documents quality control samples in assigned work area.

+ Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware and instruments.

+ Prepares solutions, reagents, and stains according to standard formulas and procedures.

+ Answers phones, responds to physician inquiries regarding lab results.

+ Maintains required records, reports, statistics, logs, files to comply with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.

+ Performs all functions of a Sr. lab assistant as required.

+ Receives or collects specimens; organizes and prioritizes work duties. Identifies and labels specimens.

+ Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

+ Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
