The Meta Robotics Hardware team is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on electronics integration and packaging. This role is pivotal in tackling novel mechanical and electrical packaging integration problems we face including designing and developing complex robotics that balance ergonomics, performance, reliability, ID, and usability while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. This role will be part of a ME team responsible for concept development, analytical modeling, prototype design, fabrication, vendor management, and testing. Candidates should be able to work in a high ambiguity, fast-moving environment where full-system requirements are seldom known. This team is dedicated to building hardware that enables learning through data collection and testing.

**Required Skills:**

Mechanical Engineer: Electronics Packaging and Sensor Integration Responsibilities:

1. Design of humanoid robot components and systems that integrate sensors, electronics, and structure, and mechatronics

2. PCB and flex PCB mechanical definition, cooling, and integration. Responsibilities include interconnect solution considering DFMA, shock and vibration robustness, debugging, and serviceability

3. Supporting prototype fabrication and builds: Working with internal/external partners to support part fabrication and robot builds, fixtures and assembly tooling design, assembly procedures

4. Performance testing and failure analysis: Build subsystem test fixtures, design tests, create test plans, perform tests, measure and analyze data, and refine design assumptions

5. Work closely with industrial design on overall packaging form, keep-in/keep-out volumes

6. Collaboration: Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers (EE, SW, Firmware) to deliver complete technical solutions

7. Sustaining engineering: Troubleshooting root-cause of mechanical failures, implementing improved designs, testing effectiveness of change

**Minimum Qualifications:**

8. 8+ years experience in Mechanical Design Engineering and with experience consumer electronics

9. BS degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

10. Experience designing complex electro-mechanical, tightly integrated, and consumer level solutions

11. Experience with SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX or similar CAD tools

12. Experience with prototyping manufacturing processes and materials

13. Experience managing time-sensitive projects through to completion while balancing evolving priorities and a broad range of stakeholders

14. Experience in tolerance analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

15. Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

21. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
