**Job Summary and Responsibilities**
As our Post Doctoral Fellow, you will engage at an advanced trainee level in laboratory, translational, or clinical research, working under the direction and guidance but in closer partnership with a faculty member. You will specifically develop additional skills necessary for success as an independent investigator.
Every day, you will contribute significantly to ongoing research projects, bringing your existing expertise while proactively acquiring new, specialized skills. This involves conducting experiments, analyzing data, interpreting findings, and participating in scientific discussions and publications that advance our understanding within your field. Your work will directly support the faculty member's research goals while fostering your growth towards independent scientific inquiry.

The Ivy Brain Tumor Center at Barrow Neurological Institute is a non-conventional non-profit program offering state-of-the-art clinical trials for patients with the most aggressive form of brain cancer. It is home to the largest collection of Phase 0 trials for brain tumors in the world. Our multidisciplinary team of brain tumor specialists and scientists are accelerating drug discovery and precision medicine in neuro-oncology to identify the most promising first-in-class therapies for brain tumor patients.
In this role the Post Doctoral Fellow will design and develop brain targeting therapeutics via rational design and neuro-pharmacokinetic assessment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
+ The candidate should have a strong background in chemical/pharmaceutical sciences with a reasonable working knowledge of translational research. Candidates who have experience in Medicinal Organic or Analytical Chemistry and can demonstrate competency in biochemical methods will be preferred.
+ The candidate should be able to work well in highly collaborative environment and have excellent communication skills. Potential areas of application include bioanalysis medicinal chemistry drug development drug pharmacokinetics (PK) organic synthesis method validation biomarker analysis and PK modeling.
+ The candidate is encouraged to apply for internal and external grants.
Key responsibilities include
• Rational design and synthesis of novel brain-targeting therapeutic agents.
• Characterization of novel molecules using necessary physicochemical means including NMR MS UV-vis etc.
• Development of analytical methods for determination of newly synthesized molecules various drugs drug candidates metabolites and biomarkers in various biological matrices employing LC-MS/MS techniques.
• Performing biochemical characterization of various molecules.
• Manuscript preparation and publishing.
• Supervision and training of laboratory supporting research staff.
• Preparation and delivery of research presentations at local meetings national and international conferences.
• General operation maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
• Preparation and maintenance of required laboratory safety documentation and adherence to the guidelines and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in organic synthesis bioanalysis medicinal or pharmaceutical chemistry areas.
• Experience with rational drug design and development physicochemical characterization.
• Experience with UHPLC or LCMS-based assay development.
• Good organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and cohesively as part of a team.
Additional Requirements Recommendation letters Education Ph.D. or equivalent degree (MD DVM PharmD etc.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences Chemistry Biochemistry Medical Sciences or in related disciplines.
