Engineer II (API; UI Engineer)

We are seeking an innovative Engineer II to design and implement a next-generation, AI-driven automation framework for UI and API testing. This role focuses on leveraging AI agents to generate, execute, and maintain test automation, enabling scalable, low-maintenance, and high-coverage testing aligned with real customer journeys.

**Location:** Phoenix, AZ

**Duration:** 12 months

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Build and scale a reusable automation framework for UI and API testing

+ Enable AI-generated and AI-assisted test scripting using tools like GitHub Copilot

+ Develop automation for end-to-end customer journeys (not just isolated test cases)

+ Implement agent-based workflows where AI manages test creation, execution, and optimization

+ Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)

+ Automate test reporting and defect tracking through JIRA with minimal manual intervention

+ Design self-healing and intelligent test automation to improve coverage and reduce maintenance

+ Collaborate with engineering, QA, and product teams to align automation with real user scenarios

**Required Skills:**

+ Strong experience in UI and API test automation

+ Hands-on with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, REST Assured, or similar tools

+ Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)

+ Solid programming skills in Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript

+ Experience building automation frameworks from scratch

+ Familiarity with CI/CD integration and JIRA

+ Understanding of microservices and distributed systems

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Experience with AI-driven QA or autonomous testing platforms

+ Exposure to self-healing test frameworks

+ Knowledge of prompt engineering or guiding AI agents

+ Previous experience in enterprise environments such as Amex

**Experience:**

+ 3–5+ years in software engineering or test automation

**Education:**

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
