The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a **Sr.** **Advocacy Advisor (Home-based work is available)**

The Sr Advocacy Advisor is a senior professional responsible for effectively furthering the American Heart Association’s field advocacy public policy priorities through strategic leadership, advisement, coaching, training, and technical support. This is a grant-funded position with Voices for Healthy Kids, an Advocacy initiative of the American Heart Association. This person will play a coordinating role for the National Collaborative for Infants & Toddlers (NCIT) on nutrition policy advocacy for the prenatal-to-three (PN-3) population. Responsible for facilitating the successful development and implementation of customized and strategic technical assistance plans in collaboration with the Association’s Field Advocacy leadership and staff and other internal and external stakeholders. Portfolio of work includes strategic campaign planning, campaign implementation, drafting, reviewing, and analyzing legislation or regulations. Also responsible for working with colleagues on advocacy communications, key contacts, grassroots, and coalition development.

**Responsibilities**

+ Provides strategic leadership and nutrition-focused project management for Voices for Healthy Kids by engaging and convening external organizations, community groups, subject matter experts, and lawmakers in policy change efforts to improve nutrition for the prenatal-to-three population. Supports the Executive Director in managing relationships with nutrition funders.

+ Accountability for the initiative’s PN-3 nutrition project metrics to track progress, drive impact, and achieve funder deliverables in pursuit of health and wellbeing. Works across teams on behalf of the PN-3 nutrition project to maximize impact – grantmaking, communications, policy research, grassroots, development, training, etc.

+ Develops collaborative relationships with subject matter experts, technical assistance providers, and advocacy entities to strengthen PN-3 nutrition policy development, passage, and implementation. Curates and advises grantee cohorts and learning communities. Represents Voices for Healthy Kids and the National Collaborative for Infants & Toddlers with senior leaders of other PN-3-aligned nutrition advocacy organizations.

+ Works with internal peers to design and manage strategies across teams and campaigns and serves as a liaison to the American Heart Association’s federal, state, and community advocacy teams on issues of PN-3 nutrition to strengthen relationships and catalyze opportunities to advance the American Heart Association’s aligned public policy priorities.

+ Develops training and informs technical resource tools used to strengthen advocacy skills and capacity of external partners and grantees. Develop and implement strategic, customized technical assistance plans to ensure campaigns successfully support Voices for Healthy Kids’ policy efforts.

+ Closely monitors and tracks PN-3 policy advocacy issues of concern as well as emerging areas of interest; initiates appropriate activities as needed.

+ Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope and responsibility of the job level and family

**Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

+ 5 years minimum prior relevant experience

**Compensation & Benefits**

The expected pay range will be $100,000 to $115,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
