Job Summary
+ Plans and coordinates, in a non-supervisory capacity, the underground utility locating business for IES by utilizing various underground utility locating and associated technologies such as ground-penetrating radars, radio detection locators, global positioning systems, etc.
+ Additionally, works on or leads other instrumentation and measurement projects related to dissolved oxygen or air injections systems, surface water pumps, aeration weirs, as well as dissolved oxygen and other water quality parameter measurements.
+ Interfaces with customers, plans, schedules and performs work.
+ Solicits customer feedback, develops corrective actions where necessary, grows and develops the business to maximize value to TVA.
+ Schedules, analyzes, prepares, and revises project plans and specifications.
+ Prepares reports and procedures to document results.
Supervision Received
Supervision and guidance are provided by the manager or supervisor and are generally limited to overall objectives, general guidelines and policy, and work priorities. The incumbent plans and executes the work with minimal supervision.
Skills and Proficiencies
Demonstrated working knowledge of scientific practices, procedures and documentation processes. Demonstrated business and project skills: planning, scheduling, budget development, business development and customer relations.
Must have excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills. Detailed knowledge of underground utility locating and associated technologies (ground-penetrating radar, radio detection locators, global positioning system, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience/Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements/Other Requirements
Must have satisfactorily completed an Associate Degree in Electronics Technology or other scientific field or have equivalent combination of training, experience, etc.
Working knowledge of Global Positioning System (GPS) is desirable.
A thorough working knowledge of water quality and flow measurement and geophysical underground locating techniques and technologies is required.
Must have thorough working knowledge with personal computers used in data acquisition and data analysis.
Familiarity with operation and troubleshooting of water quality and flow monitoring devices (such as Hydrolabs, ISCOs and other devices) is required.
Must be familiar with Excel or other spreadsheet software used in data analysis and graphic presentation.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
