Welder – 1st Shift

The Advance Group is hiring an experienced Welder for a direct-hire opportunity in Monroe, Michigan. This 1st shift welding position is ideal for an experienced welder with strong fabrication skills and the ability to read blueprints and engineering specifications.

The Welder will perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, fabricate metal components, operate welding and cutting equipment, and inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of welding experience, strong attention to detail, and experience working with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.

What Does a Welder Do?

As a Welder, you will:

Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and engineering specifications to determine welding requirements.
Set up and operate MIG, TIG, and Stick welding equipment.
Operate plasma cutters and oxy-acetylene torches.
Weld steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other metals using appropriate welding processes.
Perform welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
Inspect welded components for quality, accuracy, cracks, and other defects.
Troubleshoot welding issues and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
Fabricate metal components by cutting, bending, and shaping materials according to specifications.
Work with engineering and design teams regarding weldability and fabrication requirements.
Maintain welding equipment, tools, and supplies.
Monitor inventory of welding materials and supplies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all applicable workplace and welding safety procedures.
Provide guidance and training to junior welders as needed.
Stay current with welding techniques, equipment, and technology.

Welder Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

3–5 years of relevant welding experience; intermediate-level welding experience preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or welding certification is preferred.
Strong knowledge of MIG, TIG, Stick, and oxy-acetylene welding processes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding drawings, sketches, and engineering specifications.
Experience welding components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
Ability to operate manual or semiautomatic welding equipment.
Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent attention to detail and precision.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Ability to identify welding defects, cracked metal, and other quality issues and make appropriate repairs.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive welding and fabrication tasks.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–4:00 PM
Overtime: Overtime and weekends as needed
Pay: $23–$28 per hour, depending on experience
