The **R&D Supervisor** (Riverside, IL Lab) will supervise a team of R&D Chemists and Technicians working in the RVSD Organics Analysis Analytical laboratory. This position requires an understanding of analytical chemistry techniques, Analytical laboratory operations, data analysis and quality assessment. In this role you will be expected to provide leadership to support analyses requested by R&D pilot plant and labs and Tech Service to ensure timely delivery of analytical data. Coordination of priorities with Operations and Research and Development teams and collaboration with members of the larger Materials Characterization department will be pivotal to success.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Lead a team of scientists in the Riverside analytical lab, utilizing various analytical techniques including chromatography, organic physical measurements, wet chemical, and elemental analyses.
+ Drive the development of new methods and process improvements to enhance effectiveness and data quality.
+ Provide technical guidance and training on equipment operation and analysis methods.
+ Provide leadership on execution of analytical testing to meet time critical project needs for R&D pilot plants, labs, and Tech Service samples.
+ Establish lab coverage schedules to meet time-critical testing requirements from pilot plant operations, including weekends and holidays for high priority projects.
+ Ensures analytical equipment is operational and well maintained and equipment capability needs are identified for future capital planning.
+ Collaborate with the Materials Characterization team and communicate with cross-functional requestors, project team leads, and pilot plant operations personnel.
+ Ensure team adherence to established HS&E requirements for safe laboratory practices.
**YOU MUST HAVE:**
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
+ 8 years of analytical laboratory experience
+ At least 2 years’ experience showing the ability to lead, motivate, coach, and mentor others in a matrix and cross functionally oriented organization
**WE VALUE:**
+ Demonstrated experience in making improvement to methods, data quality and work processes.
+ Knowledge of UOP materials and processes and associated analytical methods.
+ Hands on experience running analytical equipment and analyzing samples in an R&D environment with fast turnaround time requirements.
+ Project management or experience leading R&D work groups or teams.
+ Effective oral and written communication skills
The annual base salary range for this position is $137,000- $154,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
