Magnetic resonance imaging technologists, also referred to as MRI technologists, utilize magnetic resonance imaging scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis. MRI technologists must be able to closely follow a physician's instructions, prepare and operate MRI equipment, position patients correctly, and effectively record the requested diagnostic images.
**A caregiver in this position works part-time| nights| 10:30PM - 7:00AM.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Prepare and check patients prior to MRI procedure.
+ Acquire and review patient questionnaire, chart and data/requisition to determine contraindication of having MRI examination.
+ Verify and validate the patient screening safety form.
+ Perform MRI procedures required per protocol and perform daily QA.
+ Perform venipunctures.
+ Educate patients regarding MRI procedures, equipment and exams.
+ Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam.
+ Assist with scheduling patients.
+ Administer proper contrast related to patient having MRI exam.
+ Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
+ Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
+ Immediately report any malfunctions, observe potential equipment dysfunctions and report problems or call for service.
+ Maintain available equipment up-time at the highest level for patient accessibility.
+ Process billing via RIS.
+ Potentially rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited institution per the primary pathway of the ARRT
+ Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) or The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), or R.T.(S)(ARRT), or R.T.(T)(ARRT), in good standing. Or must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(N) (ARRT) in good standing or be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (ARDMS and NMTCB are primary pathways)
+ Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging: R.T.(MR)(ARRT) (required within one year of hire)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross certification
+ Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ One year experience as a General Radiologic Technologist or experience in other imaging modalities
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
**Pay Range**
Minimum hourly: $35.25
Maximum hourly: $53.00
