**Minimum qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
+ 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
+ Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.
+ Experience with cloud infrastructure engineering, on-premise infrastructure engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms.
+ Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ Experience with higher education or educational research clients including state, county, and local municipal agencies.
+ Experience in migrating applications and services to cloud platforms.
+ Experience with networking concepts such as software-defined networking, routing, virtual private networks, load balancers and firewalls.
+ Experience creating demos and solution creation using generative AI tools and services.
+ Experience with security concepts such as encryption, identity management, access control, attack vectors, and pen testing.
**About the job**
As a Customer Engineer, you will partner with technical sales teams to differentiate Google Cloud to our customers. You will help prospective and existing higher education customers and partners understand the power of Google Cloud, develop creative cloud solutions and architectures to solve their business challenges, engage in proofs of concepts, and troubleshoot any technical questions and roadblocks related to database migrations, data back ends and all aspects of the data lifecycle. You will engage with customers to understand their business and technical requirements, and persuasively present practical and useful solutions on Google Cloud.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $127,000-$184,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. **Responsibilities**
+ Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, identify key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers.
+ Own the technical relationship with Google’s higher education customers, including managing product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of additional technical resources.
+ Demonstrate and prototype Google Cloud product integrations in customer/partner environments.
+ Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution using best practices on Google Cloud.
+ Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required.
