An organization within Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems Sector, Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) is a leading innovator in advanced microelectronics design and fabrication. MDA is seeking an **Operations Lab Engineer.** This position is located at **Baltimore, MD** locations.
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Advanced Processing Solutions is working to develop next generation high performance computing systems to meet the mission demands of the NGMS Networked Information Solutions (NIS) business. Superconducting electronics forms the core of our technology, with a focus on energy-efficient computation including our patented superconducting digital logic technology, Reciprocal Quantum Logic (RQL). On a gate for gate basis, RQL consumes orders of magnitude less power than CMOS while running at significantly higher clock speeds. The Advanced Technology Lab of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Cryogenic Lab Engineers. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) business segment.
**Qualified Operations Lab Engineers will have experience with some of the following responsibilities:**
+ Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to cryogenic systems.
+ Oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of cryogenic and test equipment (Power Supplies, signal generators, pulse generators, frequency counter, oscilloscope, etc) in Lab environment.
+ Oversee day-to-day operation of cryogenic test lab and ensure optimal functionality and safe working environment
+ Asset management movement and tracking including compliance with calibration and government property policies
+ Conduct periodic lab inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in cryogenic and test operations.
+ Identify and implement process improvements for operational efficiency
**This position will serve on-site in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD.**
**This position can be filled at either the Operations Lab Engineer or Principal Operations Lab Engineer level.**
**Basic Qualifications for Operations Lab Engineer:**
+ Bachelor of Science degree in a technical area (BSEE or other Engineering discipline preferred) with 2 years of related experience or 0 years with technical Masters. 4 additional years of technical experience can be considered in lieu of a degree
+ Experience with cryogenic test environments, including system operation and troubleshooting.
+ Strong problem solving and analytical skills
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic test systems.
+ Must be able to navigate within a testing area and physically lift up to 35 pounds
+ Must be a US Citizen
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance per customers requirements
**Basic Qualifications for Principal Operations Lab Engineer:**
+ Bachelor of Science degree in a technical area (BSEE or other Engineering discipline preferred) with 5 years of related experience or 3 years with technical Masters
+ Experience with cryogenic test environments, including system operation and troubleshooting.
+ Strong problem solving and analytical skills
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic test systems.
+ Must be able to navigate within a testing area and physically lift up to 35 pounds
+ Must be a US Citizen
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance per customers requirements
**Preferred Qualifications for Operations Lab Engineer/Principal Operations Lab Engineer**
+ Active US Government security clearance per customers requirements
+ Experience with superconducting electronics test platforms.
+ Experience with microwave electronics.
+ Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements in cryogenics and test equipment (Power Supplies, signal generators, pulse generators, frequency counter, oscilloscope, etc).
+ Ability to work independently and in a team setting, including adapting to changing priorities and requirements
+ Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
+ Cable and rack installation/electronic system integration experience.
Salary Range: $77,600.00 - $116,400.00Salary Range 2: $0.00 - $0.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
