Transplant Nurse Coordinator- Training Underfill

**This is a Training Under-Fill position for Transplant Nurse Coordinator. This Training Under-Fill position will be a New Graduate Training Underfill for a period not to exceed two (2) years from the date of hire into the position. Satisfactory performance at the end of the training period will lead to a non-competitive promotion to a Transplant Nurse Coordinator position.**

**Position Summary:**

Responsible for coordination of the evaluation and preparation of patients for organ transplantation and long-term management of patients after transplant. The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating patient care across multiple areas; transplant office, the outpatient clinic, the inpatient nursing unit and the community, in order to provide continuity of patient care across settings.

Job Requirement

**Education/Experience:**
Graduation from and accredited school of nursing and two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in transplant services.

**Licensing/Certification Requirements:**
Valid License by State of Nevada to Practice as a Registered Nurse. Some positions may require Certification in a Specialty Area and/or Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Neonatal Resuscitation Protocol (NRP).

TRAINING UNDER-FILL REQUIREMENTS:**

New Graduate Registered Nurse

**Education/Experience:**

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

**Licensing/Certification Requirements:**
Current License by the Nevada State Board of Nursing to Practice as a Registered Nurse and Basic Life support (BLS) certification.

Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

**_Preference will be given to applicants who document the following:_**

* Prior work experience at a transplant clinic
* Transplant coordinator certification
* Six Sigma or LEAN process improvement experience
* ability to manage a large caseload of patients
* strong interdepartmental and physician collaboration
* strong EHR skills;
* strong customer service focused

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

**Knowledge of:**
Performance improvement principles and methods; specific area of clinical nursing or program focus; Joint Commission, UNOS guidelines; State and Federal standards; community agencies with interests in relevant services; Nurse Practice Act; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage and use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures; age specific patient care practices.

**Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:**
Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
