Job Function Health and Safety Manager

Our client, a defense manufacturer, is seeing an EHS Specialist to join their team in the Charleston, SC area.

You will assist the EHS Manager with planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of occupational health, safety, environmental programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees. Assist the Safety Manager in assuring that MTG complies with applicable federal and state health, safety and environmental laws, regulations and standards.

Responsibilities:

+ Conduct workplace EHS inspections, identify hazards, and track corrective actions through closure.

+ Investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

+ Maintain OSHA records, incident documentation, EHS metrics, inspection findings, and regulatory records.

+ Develop and maintain JSAs/JHAs, safe-work procedures, and other EHS programs.

+ Conduct new-hire, recurring, and job-specific EHS training; develop training materials and maintain records.

+ Support environmental compliance, including stormwater inspections, documentation, and applicable regulatory requirements.

+ Support emergency preparedness, fire/life-safety, evacuation, and PPE programs.

+ Partner with supervisors, employees, and contractors to address unsafe conditions, work practices, and site-specific EHS requirements.

+ Provide guidance on applicable city, state, and federal EHS regulations and compliance requirements.

+ Compile, analyze, and report accident, loss, exposure, and safety performance data to management.

+ All other duties assigned

Qualifications:

+ An associate’s degree in safety engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or a related field is preferred; and 1 to 2 years of related experience and/or training.

+ Knowledge of delivering hands on health, safety and environmental training.

+ Strong knowledge of industry-specific requirements

+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Effective communication and leadership skills

+ Strong organizational and project management skills

+ Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (training/presentations/report writing).

+ Ability to lead and direct teams, strong PC skills in Microsoft Office products, skilled in the standards, concepts, practices, and procedures within health, safety and environmental fields.

+ Must be a United States Citizen.
