This position has unit responsibility for overseeing care and maintenance of all instrumentation, containers and equipment used in the decontamination process; the preparation and delivery of all case carts for operating rooms, room supplies and supplies for clean cores. Other essential responsibilities and functions include:
+ Overseeing the delivery of accurate and complete instrument trays to the operating rooms and other departments within the hospital, and for managing the delivery and processing of all loaner implant and instrument trays.
+ Staffing, scheduling, evaluations, and accountability of staff members.
+ Act as a liaison between the sterile processing and other departments within the organization.
+ Holds self and others accountable for safety by ensuring appropriate procedures and guidelines are followed.
+ Maintains a state of constant survey readiness in the department.
+ Responsive to coaching and feedback for improvement; demonstrates continued progress by improving competencies, skill development and applying learning.
+ Successfully manages distribution of sterile processing supplies throughout campuses as appropriate.
+ Successfully manages Sterile Processing and Surgical Distribution Supply staff.
+ Selects, orients, trains, evaluates and terminates employees in accordance with organizational policies.
+ Ensures all instrumentation is maintained in a state of readiness for any unit utilizing reusable instrumentation.
+ Collaborates with Leadership to ensure timely delivery of instrument sets and case carts for use.
+ Assesses and implements performance improvement initiatives.
+ Responsible for department budget and productivity.
+ Procures necessary instrumentation to support surgical services.
+ Collaborates with other Sterile Processing units throughout Kettering Health as appropriate.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
+ High School diploma a minimum. - Associates or bachelor’s degree required at hire or must be working towards an undergraduate degree and obtained within 5-years of hire. Employees in this position as of 4/4/2023 are grandfathered in regarding degree requirements.
+ Three (3) or more years of previous processing management experience
+ Minimum of two years’ experience in surgical services environment
+ A Certification in CRCST by IAHCSMM is required
+ If Certified as Surgical Technologist/Surgical Technologist First Assist, then certification in CRCST by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) to be obtained within two years of hire.
+ Demonstration of management and leadership abilities
