SCOPE OF POSITION
The Certified Nursing Assistant C.N.A is responsible for performing assigned patient care activities, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, to the Neonate, Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patient. The C.N.A. is expected to practice within the practice guidelines of the VA State Board of Nursing and the policies of Mountain States Health Alliance. Assigned job duties include personal care, specimen collection, documentation of care rendered, use of proper body mechanics, and handling appropriate tubes and drains ccording to policy guidelines. The C.N.A. also assists with maintaining a clean and safe patient care environment. The C.N.A. assists with clerical functions, such as answering the telephone, collecting data and preparing and maintaining patient records as directed. Patient-Centered Care is provided to each patient and is specific to the patient's particular physical, age-specific and psychosocial needs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate (GED or HISET) or confirmation of three years of experience in hospital/medical setting. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the appropriate state (TN or VA) required. Certified Nursing Assistant certification is required for this Position. AHA BLS is required for direct patient care provider. Individuals who are at least 17 years of age, in the senior year of high school, and within 6 months of graduation where diploma is anticipated may be considered
