Controls Engineer IV

CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Controls Engineer IV.

**Job Title:** Controls Engineer IV

**Location:** Hickory, NC

_Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Hickory, NC_

**Pay Rate:** Based on experience

**Work Hours:** M-F 8am-5pm

**Education:** BSEE / BSCS / BSME / BSMET (or equivalent engineering degree with relevant experience)

**Description**

Lead control systems design, implementation, and automation projects for a fiber optic cable production facility. Mentor junior engineers and ensure safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Program and modify Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs (v20+) for production equipment

+ Design and implement control systems projects from concept to production

+ Mentor junior engineers and manage controls engineering scope for process improvements and capital projects

+ Interface with vendors and system integrators to deliver fully integrated equipment systems

+ Support all project phases including design, testing, installation, start-up, and technology transfer

+ Ensure safety compliance (NEC, NFPA) and collaborate with technicians on equipment troubleshooting

**Required Skills:**

+ PLC programming (ladder logic, structured text, function block)

+ HMI/SCADA programming and integration

+ Electrical design using AutoCAD Electrical 2023

+ Motion control, VFD/servo programming, and electro-mechanical system expertise

+ Strong troubleshooting, project execution, and independent problem-solving skills

**Preferred Skills:**

+ Extrusion or cable winding experience

+ OSI PI historian and iFix 5.9+ experience

+ Beckhoff PLC and legacy control system knowledge

+ Entrepreneurial and visionary approach to system design

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
