Senior Predictive Maintenance Specialist (Multi-Technology PdM)
Position Summary
The Senior Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Specialist or Reliability Engineer is responsible for executing and supporting a multi-technology condition monitoring program focused on improving asset reliability, reducing unplanned downtime, and optimizing maintenance strategies.
This role requires deep expertise across predictive technologies—including infrared thermography, ultrasound, vibration analysis, motor circuit testing, and partial discharge testing—along with the ability to translate findings into actionable maintenance and reliability improvements.
**Core Responsibilities**
Predictive Maintenance Execution
+ Perform advanced condition monitoring using:
+ Infrared thermography (IR)
+ Ultrasound (mechanical and steam systems)
+ Vibration analysis
+ Motor circuit testing (offline electrical)
+ Partial discharge (PD) testing
+ Collect, analyze, and trend condition data to identify developing failure modes
+ Establish and maintain data collection routes and inspection frequencies
+ Identify early-stage equipment degradation and provide actionable recommendations
**Diagnostics & Analysis**
+ Conduct failure diagnostics and determine root causes based on PdM data
+ Correlate multi-technology findings (vibration, IR, ultrasound, electrical) to confirm fault conditions
+ Support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations
+ Document findings clearly and communicate risk, priority, and recommended actions
**Program Development & Optimization**
+ Support development and continuous improvement of PdM programs and strategies
+ Assist in defining:
+ Equipment criticality
+ Monitoring strategies and intervals
+ Technology selection and deployment
+ Contribute to optimization of PM/PdM programs and elimination of non-value-added maintenance
**Reliability Integration**
Collaborate with Reliability Engineers and site leadership to:
+ Align PdM activities with asset criticality and maintenance strategy
+ Improve reliability databases and inspection routes
+ Support integration of PdM findings into CMMS and maintenance planning workflows
+ Assist with lubrication, oil analysis, and other condition-based reliability initiatives
**Leadership & Coordination**
+ Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior technicians
+ Support or lead specific technology programs (e.g., PD program, vibration program)
+ Interface with operations, maintenance, planning, and engineering teams to align priorities
+ Ensure PdM work supports broader reliability and operational goals
**Safety & Compliance**
+ Perform all work in compliance with site safety procedures and electrical safety requirements
+ Support electrical permitting, job planning, and hazard identification where required
+ Ensure all inspections and testing activities are conducted safely and correctly
**Qualifications & Experience**
Required Experience
+ 10–15+ years of experience in predictive maintenance or reliability
+ Demonstrated experience across multiple PdM technologies, including:
+ Infrared thermography
+ Ultrasound testing
+ Vibration analysis
+ Motor circuit testing
+ Partial discharge testing
+ Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments (power, chemicals, food, O&G, etc.)
**Preferred Experience**
Experience leading or supporting a PdM program or technology discipline
Involvement in:
+ Criticality assessments
+ Reliability database/route development
+ Preventive maintenance optimization
+ Experience working with CMMS platforms (SAP, Maximo, etc.)
**Certifications**
+ Infrared Level II (minimum)
+ Vibration Analysis Level II (minimum)
+ Ultrasound Level I (preferred)
+ Additional certifications (preferred):
+ Electrical testing (MCA, PD)
+ Reliability certifications (CMRP or equivalent)
