JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Behrend seeks a high-energy event coordinator whose primary purpose will be to envision, plan, hold, and amplify public events associated with two major Behrend initiatives focused on entrepreneurship and economic development in Northwestern Pennsylvania. The position will work within Behrend’s Corporate Engagement team, collaborating with other units as well as many outside organizations.

This position is primarily outward facing. The candidate will represent Penn State Behrend at regular events with outside organizations. The position duties include organizing events associated with the James R. Meehl Innovation Commons, the NWPA Innovation Beehive Network, and Behrend’s project RESOLVE, an extensive regional economic development initiative focused on sustainability in regional business and industry.

The position will require limited travel to regional locations within approximately 150 miles. Most events will occur in Erie County, PA. These events may occur on evenings and weekends, so availability during those times is required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

+ Organize small and large public events at various locations in Northwestern PA.

+ Coordinate with the Office of Strategic Communications on marketing events and celebrating their outcomes.

+ Track data associated with events such as attendees, sponsorships, new projects, new relationships, feedback, etc.

+ Apply collected data to future decisions and methods.

+ Acquire an in-depth knowledge of Behrend programs for the purpose of outreach.

+ Communicate clearly and professionally with a broad range of stakeholders.

+ Work effectively both independently and within the team, contributing new ideas and addressing concerns professionally.

This position is assured for a two-year period with a high likelihood of continuation.

This position typically requires a high school diploma or higher with 2+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates with experience planning and holding large public events are preferred.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
