JOB SUMMARY:
Ensures compliance with internal and external Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulatory requirements, including local, state, and federal regulations. Supports site-level implementation and sustainment of Polaris enterprise EHSS policies, procedures, and initiatives. Provides hands-on, day-to-day EHSS execution and partners with operations and leadership to reduce risk, maintain compliance, and support a safe and healthy work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
· Understands, implements, and supports compliance with applicable EHS regulations, Polaris policies, objectives, and procedures.
· Supports execution and sustainment of site EHS programs by providing coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors through a consistent presence on the production floor.
· Monitors daily safety conditions and proactively identifies, communicates, and addresses hazards.
· Responds to EHS concerns raised by employees and leadership and ensures appropriate follow-up.
· Conducts routine safety and environmental inspections, walk-throughs, and site assessments; identifies gaps and supports corrective action development and closure.
· Heavily supports incident, near-miss, and safety observation investigations; assists plant leaders with RCA completion, root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, and logs into Polaris portal.
· Tracks corrective actions to ensure timely completion and sustained effectiveness.
· Plans, coordinates, and delivers EHS training programs, including onboarding safety training and topic-specific training (e.g., forklift, lockout/tagout, confined space, machine guarding, elevated work).
· Maintains EHSS documentation, inspection records, training logs, and compliance reports to support audit readiness.
· Supports environmental compliance activities, including regulatory and Polaris environmental reporting, stormwater inspections, and general condition inspections.
· Supports and coordinates hazardous waste and recycling activities, including scheduling pick-ups and reconciling manifests.
· Supports Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, including driver documentation, medical certifications, and permitting.
· Supports compliance programs, training, and recordkeeping.
· Partners with production, maintenance, and leadership teams to balance EHS priorities with operational needs.
· Serves as a site-level resource for day-to-day EHS questions and guidance.
· Collects and reviews EHSS data to identify recurring issues and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
· Assists with site and enterprise EHS audits, assessments, and regulatory readiness activities.
· Works under the guidance of senior EHS leadership to execute site-level programs and initiatives.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
* Bachelor's degree required.
* Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, engineering, or related field preferred
* 3+ years of experience in an industrial health, safety and environmental role in a manufacturing setting is required
* Must be able to read and understand EHS&S rules & regulations
* Must be able to conduct effective employee training programs
* Must be able to build relationships, exercise influence and lead change in order to meet EHS objectives
* Excellent communication, record keeping, and organizational skills
* Influencing and Relationship Building Skills -- Ability to utilize organizational knowledge to build relationships, exercise influence and lead change in order to meet EHS&S objectives
