Network Engineer

**About Baylor Scott & White Health**

Baylor Scott & White Health operates a large-scale, mission-critical healthcare network supporting hospitals, clinics, and administrative facilities across Texas. Our network infrastructure directly enables patient care, clinical operations, and business continuity. We are committed to building secure, resilient, and standardized environments that scale reliably across our enterprise.

**Position Overview**

We are seeking a Network Engineer to serve as the technical lead for remote site network deployments across hospitals and clinical facilities.

This role owns end-to-end execution of network implementations from carrier circuit turn-up and MDF/IDF build validation through production go-live signoff. The position is primarily project-focused (approximately 75% implementation / 25% Level 3 operational support) and requires strong hands-on experience across routing, switching, wireless, WAN connectivity, and structured cabling environments.

This is not an architecture role. This is a hands-on execution leadership role responsible for building and validating mission-critical infrastructure in live healthcare environments.

**Key Responsibilities**

+ Lead end-to-end remote site network implementations from design review through production validation

+ Serve as the primary technical owner during hospital and clinic turn-ups

+ Execute approved network designs in coordination with Network Architecture

+ Validate WAN circuit turn-ups, carrier demarc extensions, and provider handoffs

+ Configure and validate HSRP-based high-availability campus environments

+ Deploy and support enterprise LAN, WAN, and wireless infrastructure (Cisco and Aruba platforms)

+ Perform wireless validation using Ekahau or equivalent RF survey tools

+ Design and validate MDF/IDF layouts including rack elevations, power planning, and cable management

+ Ensure structured cabling standards (copper and fiber) meet enterprise specifications

+ Review labeling standards and certification reports for cabling installations

+ Coordinate with construction, facilities, and field services teams during build phases

+ Troubleshoot and resolve Layer 2/Layer 3 issues including VLANs, trunking, routing adjacencies, and gateway validation

+ Independently resolve DNS, port configuration, and hardware-related issues without architectural escalation

+ Participate in change management and production cutover planning

+ Provide Level 3 support for complex incidents affecting remote sites

+ Document builds, diagrams, validation steps, and operational runbooks

**Travel Requirements**

+ Approximately 50% travel within Texas

+ Travel supports hospital and clinic implementations

+ Work is performed during coordinated outage windows in live clinical environments

+ Some physical installation responsibilities including racking and validating equipment

**What Success Looks Like in This Role**

+ Remote site deployments completed on time and validated without post-go-live instability

+ Minimal unnecessary escalation to Network Architecture

+ Clean, standardized, well-documented builds

+ Reliable handoff to operations with no unresolved configuration gaps

**Preferred Experience**

+ 7+ years of enterprise network engineering experience

+ Demonstrated experience leading remote site implementations end-to-end

+ Strong hands-on expertise with Cisco and Aruba LAN and wireless platforms

+ Experience validating WAN carrier circuits and performing demarc testing

+ Experience designing and validating MDF/IDF environments

+ Strong troubleshooting skills across Layer 2 and Layer 3

+ Experience operating in 24x7, mission-critical environments

+ Ability to independently own onsite technical execution

+ BGP configuration and troubleshooting

+ SD-WAN experience

+ QoS design and validation

+ Packet capture analysis (Wireshark)

+ Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated enterprise environments

+ CCNP (Enterprise or Wireless)

+ Aruba certifications (ACNP / ACMP)

**Minimum Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification

+ 5 Years of Experience
