As part of our Camera Technologies group, you’ll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You’ll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we’ll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras. The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for the design, development, and innovation of camera hardware for all related Apple products. Our target is to deliver superior camera hardware to enable best-in-class camera user experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic, high energy individual who can help us with tomorrow’s challenges. The Image Science Team, a part of the Camera Hardware and Depth Team, develops novel calibration and characterization methodologies to enable new photographic experiences while maintaining high image quality over a wide range of component variation. Past projects have addressed color balance, color shading, optical and numerical image stabilization, position sensing, optical distortion calibration, and stereo imaging (including Portrait Mode and Cinematic Video). The team is seeking an exceptional optical systems engineer / image scientist with broad skills to develop the next generation of computational imaging technologies.

**Description**

Apple’s Camera Hardware team is looking for an expert in calibrating camera systems and developing computational metrology to characterize and calibrate complex optical imaging systems. Including: -Performing the modeling, calibration, analysis and simulation of optical imaging systems -Designing and prototyping bench-top optical imaging and metrology systems -Analyzing and characterizing electrical, optical, and optoelectronic components for new systems -Using computer control (Matlab, Python, etc.) to automate repetitive measurements. -Defining and documenting the systems architectures and system specifications for new features. Managing project deliverables and schedules to meet commitments to product development teams

**Minimum Qualifications**

**Key Qualifications**

+ Experience with imaging system calibration, such as projective geometry and geometric imaging optics

+ Expertise with optical imaging systems or optical metrology techniques

+ Experience with test automation and robotic systems

+ Strong computational imaging, image processing and computer vision fundamentals

+ Strong analytical skills in solving engineering challenges, reviewing and analyzing manufacturing data

+ Experience with high volume manufacturing is a plus

+ Fluency in scripting languages such as Python and Matlab. Experience with C/C++ is a plus.

+ Fast-learner and great interpersonal skills - the ability to navigate in multidisciplinary, fast-paced work environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

+ At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
