**Pay Range:** $38.02 - $55.18 per hour

**Summary:**
The Education Coordinator for Rush Medical Laboratories is responsible for developing and coordinating training programs for Rush Medical Laboratories' staff including phlebotomists and new hires, supporting onboarding, clinical instruction, and ongoing competency assessment throughout the laboratories of the Rush System for Health. The Education Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating the clinical rotations of the students enrolled in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science programs. This will entail acquiring and maintaining clinical rotation sites and scheduling and managing student practical experience, as well as ensuring that rotations are educational and adhere to the expectations of the department.
An Education Coordinator may seek a faculty appointment in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science. If appointed, the coordinator is expected to support the College of Health Sciences' mission through excellence in teaching, scholarship/clinical practice, and leadership.

• A Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Science or other biological science
• At least 2 years' experience teaching at the bench
• Working knowledge of NAACLS standards for MLS clinical education and assessment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate to satisfy diverse needs
• Excellent organizational skills to track students' progress across multiple laboratories
**Preferred Job Qualifications:**
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS(ASCP)) or Medical Laboratory Technician
(MLT (ASCP))
• At least 5 years' experience working in a clinical laboratory

• Coordinate on-boarding, orientation, and training for laboratory and phlebotomy students across RUSH labs; develop, implement, and evaluate competency-based training and continuing education
• Serve or assign preceptors and support/calibrate them to ensure effective clinical learning experiences and consistent evaluations
• Monitor trainee progress and provide regular feedback and performance assessments:
maintain training records and ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., CAP/CLIA/OSHA and institutional requirements.
• Collaborate with partner schools and certifying bodies to maintain program compliance and alignment with workforce needs
• Plan, Organize and Execute RML education programs and seminars.
• Secure, renew, and track clinical sites and affiliation agreements; manage site capacity and publish multi-site rotation calendars.
• Verify student readiness (immunizations, background/drug screen, fit-testing, HIPAA/FERPA, safety modules, EMR/ID access, site-specific on-boarding) prior to rotation start.
• Provide and maintain handbooks/rubrics for students and preceptors; track competency checklists, affective evaluations, and hours/competency completion.
• Monitor and report NAACLS-aligned outcomes (e.g., completion of competencies, remediation rates, student/preceptor satisfaction) to the MLS Program Director and Advisory Board; use results for continuous quality improvement.
