The ideal candidate for this position would have experience in real property title matters, familiarity with real estate conveyance documents, and the ability to organize, prioritize, and complete various tasks under limited time constraints. This position works closely with title attorneys and other real estate professionals on a daily basis.
+ Knows and applies practices and procedures associated with real estate legal services; and
+ Applies specialized knowledge and skill in real estate title matters; preparation of initial drafts of title opinions, conveyance documents, and closing statements; assists in file preparation by drafting and preparing documents.
Job Summary
Applies and maintains broad contemporary knowledge of principles and practices associated with the legal job family. Planning, research and analysis, and optimizing business processes are significant components of the position. Follows the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State.
Full performance and typical duties of assigned legal services area(s) may include:
+ Knows and applies practices and procedures associated with legal services;
+ Applies specialized knowledge and skill in assigned legal area; reviews and analyzes cases/information to assist in preparation of legal matters/trial preparation; assists in case/matter preparation by drafting and preparing documents, such as FOIA response, patent documents, subpoena and contacts witnesses, pre-trial orders, form instructions, witness & exhibit lists;
+ Independently conducts research and documents results (e.g. retrieving information from libraries, commercial legal databases, internet services, and factual research); locates and confers with expert witnesses and resource people; generates standard and some non-standard reports. Establishes, organizes and maintains trial note-books, expert witness notebooks, document indexes and lists, and data base files.
+ Independently organizes and analyses documents and information; plans and schedules activities in support of assignment; interprets applicable rules and regulations; and serves as liaison for coordinating functions for internal and external matters and cases.
+ May coordinate and oversee assigned work activities of the first three job standard levels.
Supervision Received
Independently performs assignments as to customary work practices and procedures. Non-conformance with program objectives are elevated to higher level for guidance and my carry a recommendation for resolution.
Skills and Proficiencies(May be job or organization specific)
+ Proficient in legal research, including commercial legal databases, internet services and library materials
+ Demonstrated ability to interact at a professional level with attorneys and clients, including conflict resolving and negotiating.
+ Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete tasks under time constraints.
+ Demonstrated ability to recognize and evaluate relevant facts and legal concepts.
+ Maintains positive customer service relations with clients, attorneys and staff.
+ Interpersonal skills to communicate and follow instructions effectively from diverse groups of clients, attorneys, and staff, and to provide information with professionalism, courtesy and tacts.
+ Performs a variety of duties according to established OGC and work group policies and procedures.
+ Self-motivated requiring limited supervision.
+ Utlizes effective planning, problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Observes confidentiality of client matters.
Minimum Qualifications(Consistent with Classification Standard)
Education and Experience/Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements/Other Requirements
Knowledge of legal principles and practices at a level normally acquired through formal paralegal training or its equivalent. Demonstrated performance of assigned legal work at the administrative professional level.
