THE ROLE

Insomniac Events is seeking a Backend Software Engineer with experience managing projects and leading development teams and is comfortable interacting with stakeholders and third party software vendors. Having the ability to develop customized strategies and adapt to each individual project is paramount to this position’s success.

This role will deliver on-time, quality-driven code releases, strategize and manage multiple development projects, and provide direction on software design and the software development process. You would be responsible for writing clean, secure, reusable code while working closely with our internal team and offshore development team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Collaborate with product, design, and marketing teams to build and maintain new features to achieve roadmap goals

+ Taking initiative on user experience improvement suggestions

+ Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes

+ Write clean, secure, and reusable code while working closely with internal and offshore development teams

+ Support debugging production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack

+ Strategize and manage multiple development projects while providing direction on software design and development processes

+ Help train and onboard other team members when needed

+ Other design requirements and responsibilities as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or 4+ years of equivalent work experience working with a team

+ Demonstrated proficiency in backend development, particularly with Go & Node.js (TypeScript)

+ Ability to concept, design, and implement efficient and well thought out data structures for API’s

+ Proven experience in e-commerce environments, with a strong background in integrating and managing APIs such as Stripe and Braintree

+ Experience writing automated tests (unit tests, integration tests, browser / E2E)

+ Git workflow (branching, merging, tagging, cherry picking)

+ Understanding of RESTful and GraphQL services, how to interact & debug with them

+ Experienced with event-driven microservice architecture

+ Database design concepts and experience with SQL (preference for Postgres)

+ Knowledge on debugging tools to fix complex issues across different services and levels of the stack (OpenTelemetry / Honeycomb.io, a debugger, other logging & observability tools)

+ Proficient in utilizing AWS services (S3, EC2, EKS, etc.) on Linux/Unix based systems for application deployment and operation, emphasizing practical application over in-depth administrative or operational management

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with a diverse team

+ Bonus points for experience in ticketing, travel, or hospitality industries

WORK ENVIRONMENT

+ Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels & busy environments

+ May work in drastic temperature climates

+ Must be willing to travel to work events during holidays, evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines

Hiring Salary Range: $112,000.00 - $140,000.00 USD
