Sterile Processing Coordinator (FT) - Bristol, TN

SCOPE OF POSITION
Successful achievement of all elements of the Scope and Education for Sterile Processing Tech, Certified (valid documentation of prior experience will be considered) including performing all activities that relate to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies, linen, equipment, and instrumentation including decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, wrapping, sterilization and storage. The Sterile Processing Coordinator will perform all job duties of a Sterile Processing Tech, Certified and will ensure that proper operating procedures are followed on their shift.

The Sterile Processing Coordinator will develop, administer, and monitor procedures to assure compliance with all hospital and regulatory standards relating to Central Sterile Processing. Will monitor and maintain documentation on all quality controls related to the decontamination, sterilization, and storage of products. Responsible for developing and providing the orientation and continuing education of all staff, on-the-job training, and in-service education as needed. Acts as a resource for and assists in the supervision of staff. The Sterile Processing Coordinator will identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and also maintain positive customer service standards. The Sterile Processing Coordinator works closely with OR staff and physicians to identify supply and equipment needs and takes a lead role in maintaining adequate supplies on hand while maintaining inventory at acceptable levels.

The Sterile Processing Coordinator provides prompt and safe delivery of sterile supplies, instruments and equipment. Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate instrumentation and all special ordered supplies. Supervises storage and inventory control of supplies. Responsible for formulation of new trays, the revision of existing trays, and storage of individual instruments. This individual is responsible for any additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred. Completion of an SPD Technician/Scrub Technician program preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Must have two to four years experience handling sterile instruments in a clinical operating room in a hospital environment. Experience should include the ability to operate equipment, have good working knowledge of aseptic technique, medical terminology, basic instruments and knowledge of floor trays and OR trays and their location.
Valid and active CSPDT or CSPM certification
