SCOPE OF POSITION 
The Phlebotomist II shall perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients of all age groups following Ballad Health standard operating procedures. Site dependent, this position's responsibilities may also include processing of chain of Custody collections, Sweat Chloride Collections, Therapeutic Phlebotomies, Throat, and NP specimen collections.

The Phlebotomist may be assigned to provide phlebotomy with patient care areas outside of the hospital such as regional cancer centers, nursing homes, physician offices, and Community Health Fairs, and to perform related clerical duties as needed. The Phlebotomist may be responsible for the performance of CLIA waived testing as assigned. The Phlebotomist will maintain a comprehensive understanding of Ballad Health Patient Safety and Patient Information Security.

As requested, the Phlebotomist serves as a Laboratory representative in a variety of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement work groups and committees. The Phlebotomist shall participate with training new team members as required. This individual shall be responsible for additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
An equivalent of three years phlebotomy experience required. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, to interact effectively with all patients and their families.
Valid and active Phlebotomist certification required 
BLS required
