Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a highly organized and proactive Unit Coordinator to support our patient care team. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or designee, the Unit Coordinator plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, efficient, and supportive patient care environment. This individual ensures timely coordination of indirect patient care staff and oversees resources, logistics, and workflow to keep the unit running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Significant responsibilities of this role will include the accurate distribution of supplies in the department as well as ensuring cleanliness of common areas and other department areas as required.
- Monitor and maintain the patient care environment to ensure cleanliness, organization, and efficiency
- Coordinate and oversee the work of assigned support personnel
- Assist in evaluating supply and equipment needs, establish usage standards, and monitor utilization
- Support long- and short-term planning and operational decision-making under the guidance of the Nurse Manager
- Participate in performance management, training, and staffing decisions for support staff
- Collaborate with nursing, support services, and environmental services teams to meet unit needs
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or completion of two years of college-level work in business, management, or allied health field
- 1–2 years of related work experience in a healthcare setting required
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare environmental services
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Moderate analytical ability to support operational planning and policy development
- Familiarity with computer systems and software related to inventory and environmental services
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of cleaning systems, people management, and resource allocation
- Experience in healthcare support operations such as inventory control, logistics, or customer service
