Surgical Scheduler

**Position Summary** :

The Surgical Scheduler is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the patient’s perioperative experience. Scheduling is completed in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion based on the mission and vision of Rush Copley, and is in accordance with policies and procedures. The Surgical Scheduler is expected to follow the surgical scheduling process to ensure patient safety. The position works closely with the entire multidisciplinary team and must have a complete understanding of own limitations and, in turn, seek advice, judgment and support of others, when necessary. Responsibilities include:

+ Maintaining daily surgical schedule and making updates accordingly

+ Facilitating scheduling, including securing date and time, with patients and families

+ Providing patients and their families any pre-surgical case information

+ Scheduling surgical cases according to physician preference, equipment room availability according to policy

+ Facilitating vendors and equipment as required

+ Facilitating the scheduling first and second assist as required

+ Facilitating any post-surgical care including post op visit and needed imaging or therapy

**Requirements:** Medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10 knowledge.

**Preferred Qualifications:** 2+ years Experience obtaining prior authorization & knowledge of insurance authorization process.
