Senior Application Support Lead - Java/AWS (Banking)

**CTG is seeking to fill a Senior Application Support Lead – Java/AWS (Banking) position for our client.**

**Location:** Atlanta, GA

**Duration:** 12 months

**Overview:**

CTG is seeking a Senior Java Application Support Lead to manage production support for critical Java-based credit card applications hosted on AWS. This role combines hands-on troubleshooting with leadership responsibilities, acting as the primary escalation point for major incidents and driving operational stability, performance, and continuous improvement in a regulated banking environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Serve as the primary escalation point for Sev1/Sev2 incidents, major outages, and critical production issues.

+ Lead incident, problem, and change management following ITIL and banking standards.

+ Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), post-incident reviews, and implement corrective/preventive actions.

+ Monitor application health, performance, and availability using APM and cloud monitoring tools.

+ Support releases, deployments, and production readiness activities, including change approvals.

+ Collaborate with Cloud, Security, and DevOps teams to ensure secure, compliant, and resilient operations.

+ Develop operational documentation and identify opportunities for automation and performance improvements.

+ Mentor and guide junior support engineers, ensuring team effectiveness during critical incidents.

**Required Skills:**

+ Strong experience supporting Java/JEE applications in production.

+ Hands-on experience with Java-based credit card or payment applications on AWS.

+ Proficiency with AWS services: EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, S3, etc.

+ Experience with APM/monitoring tools: Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, CloudWatch, ELK.

+ Knowledge of Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.

+ Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools: Git, Jenkins, Maven/Gradle.

+ Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills.

**Experience:**

+ 8+ years in Java application development and/or production support.

+ Experience leading support efforts or serving as a technical lead.

+ Background supporting high-availability applications in banking or financial services.

+ Experience with enterprise Java concepts: dependency injection, transaction management, batch processing.

**Education:**

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
