**How you’ll make an impact in this role**

Ascension St. Elizabeth & Mercy Hospital is looking for a General Surgery (Surgicalist) for our General Surgery department.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension St. Elizabeth & Mercy Hospital to provide medical services to patients.

**Position Highlights:**

+ Join a well-established general surgery practice(Must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in General Surgery)

+ Full Spectrum adult general surgery

+ Opportunity to perform screening and diagnostic endoscopy

+ Scheduled weekly hours

+ APC support for OR/Hospitalized patients

+ Advanced technology including imaging, Da Vinci robotic surgical equipment (Xi and DV5)

+ Service provides surgical coverage for hospital and ED

+ Deliver direct patient care in emergency general surgery

+ Inpatient general surgical care model

**Responsibilities:**

+ Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.

+ Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinate discharge planning with case management.

+ Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.

+ Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.

+ Participate in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.

+ Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.

+ Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

**What minimum requirements you’ll need**

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

+ One or more of the following required:

+ Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure is dependent on state associate works in. Verified by local Credentialing Office.

+ Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure is dependent on state associate works in. Verified by local Credentialing Office.

+ Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

+ Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
