**Job Description:**

The **Insurance Underwriter** is responsible for managing UPS Capital’s current book of business. He/She analyzes performance trends and gathers data to properly rate and add special conditions to underperforming policies or when making modifications to a customers’ policy. This position ensures quality and adherence to departmental underwriting guidelines, evaluates potential risk, processes insurance quotes. The insurance underwriter will work with many internal and external stakeholders including sales, claims, billing, AIG Insurance Company, and more. He/She processes financial risk analysis utilizing Excel spreadsheets and answers in depth policy related questions. This position participates in training and communications and provides support to the underwriting staff.

**This is a hybrid position based out of our Alpharetta, Georgia office location at Morris Road. This is NOT a remote opening.**

_This role will require the achievement of a Georgia Property & Casualty Insurance license (as supported by UPS Capital)_

**Responsibilities** :

+ Analyze and evaluate carrier and commodity risk.

+ Participate in trainings.

+ Perform underwriting analysis processes.

+ Draft policy documentation

+ Investigate customer shipping background and behavior.

+ Process risk assessment criteria requests

+ Partners with other departments to create standard/custom insurance solutions.

+ Process specific renewals and policy modifications.

+ Provide guidance to Junior Underwriters on underwriting risk and opportunities.

+ Underwrite business opportunities.

**Requirements** :

+ Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in Business, or similar.

+ Must be detail oriented.

+ Must have strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

+ As noted above, this role will require obtainment of a Property & Casual Insurance license.

+ Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate yourself.

+ Employer will not sponsor visas for position.

**Preferred** :

+ Knowledge of process and project management

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Word PowerPoint and Excel

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology preferred.
