**The opportunity**

Focus on leading the hands-on development of an inner-source operating model, building and maintaining capabilities for regional platforms and application consumption, and aligning technical teams with core principles and product roadmaps. Works with other departments to establish a design, technology, product development, vendor strategy and drives the development of relevant standards.

**Yo** **ur key responsibilities**

+ Implement Inner Source methodologies and practices across the Tax Platform & Product portfolio.

+ Educate, train, and create a collaborative environment for internal stakeholders to adopt Inner Source practices, e.g. conducting internal webinars and community meetings to educate and engage stakeholders on best practices

+ Drive best practices, governance, and engagement strategies to help internal talent drive more innovation and efficiency.

+ Support development teams as they create and maintain capabilities for regional platforms and application consumption.

+ Define roles and responsibilities for ‘contributors’ and ‘maintainers’, including setting guardrails, development best practices, roadmap evolution and prioritization.

+ Foster community growth with clear documentation and communication, especially for distributed teams across different time zones

+ Guide the cultural shift required for transitioning to this model, particularly around documentation practices

+ Help identify candidate projects for inner sourcing, and support execution

+ Empower Regional Teams:

+ Configure, integrate, and enhance platform capabilities

+ Deliver client-centered innovations

+ Implement a federated model of development and governance

**Skills and attributes for success**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics, or related field preferred

+ More than 10 years applied experience

+ Extensive relevant experience in either an internal or external software or platform engineering role, or similar, with highly advanced technical knowledge in assigned specialism

+ In-depth knowledge of Inner Source principles and methodologies within a platform-driven business.

+ Experience as a technical lead or maintainer for a 20+ person Open Source community, with at least 3 years of experience growing the community and having a significant impact.

+ Demonstrated ability to drive change and innovation through collaboration and operational effectiveness.

+ Experience managing Open-Source or Inner Source projects e.g. under Linux Foundation or Apache Foundation.

+ Proficient in applying and operationalizing Inner Source practices.

+ Strong communication and training skills to engage and educate stakeholders.

+ Capable of promoting a culture of collaborative innovation, encouraging regional teams to enhance the platform ecosystem.

+ Skilled in managing the complexities of partnership models.

+ Experience in establishing governance processes with multiple entities contributing and investing in the project and ensuring security and Quality Risk Management standards are achieved.

+ Proven track record in breaking down silos to encourage peer-reviewed contributions and knowledge sharing.

+ Strong capabilities in fostering transparency and mutual respect in decision-making.

The compensation ranges below are provided in order to comply with United States pay transparency laws. Other geographies will follow their local salary guidelines, which may not be a direct conversion of published US salary ranges.

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $134,200 to $258,300. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $161,000 to $293,500. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
