Senior Network Engineer

**Job Description**

The Engineering, Development, Integration and Sustainment (EDIS) contract is for Contract Support Services (CSS) providing engineering, development, integration, test, and sustainment of the Research and Development Space and Missile Operations (RDSMO) program Ground System Enterprise (GSE) in support of the United States Space Force (USSF) and Space Systems Command (SSC to look at how to make the nation s national security space enterprise more resilient.

The SSC Innovation and Prototyping Directorate (SSC/SZI) at Kirtland Air Force Base, NM, supports the USSF RDSMO program requirements. The SSC/SZI mission is to operate and sustain an affordable GSE for R&D and demonstration missions; to develop innovative solutions to reduce Operations & Maintenance costs; to provide a test bed to prove out emerging concepts; to build and support ground system instantiations, to integrate operational missions (major weapon systems) into the GSE, to integrate and sustain cyber defense, and to remain a viable choice for all new ground satellite operations command and control. In addition, SSC/SZI operates experimental and demonstration satellites, and fixed and mobile satellite ground systems.

SSC/SZI provides a collaborative partnership between developmental, test and operational units to seamlessly develop and rapidly field new capabilities, standardize satellite operations and exploit core competencies/strengths. SSC/SZI coordinates with SSC/SDTF to support the SSC and EGS initiatives, as well as other Department of Defense (DoD) activities. As initial capabilities are demonstrated for operational missions, those capabilities are expected to transfer to operational sustainment processes, procedures, and funding lines. The SSC/SZI vision is to create an innovative and collaborative R&D/demo GSE for use in all USSF R&D/demo missions as well as all future operational ground programs under the EGS and SSC initiatives. SSC/SZI is the USSF focal point and center of expertise for DoD experimental and

demonstration space and missile operations supporting space and missile R&D efforts and conducting space and missile Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) and Initial Operational Test and Evaluation (IOT&E) activities.

**Job Summary**

BAE Systems is looking for a highly qualified and self-motivated Senior Network Engineer to support the US Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command. This individual will be responsible for the deployment, monitoring, and support of network infrastructure (IP based telephones, Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs) and virtual server environments (servers, storage area networks, and VMware) and should be able to troubleshoot, install, implement and administer network systems. This individual will ensure planned testing activities are executed, develop network security guidelines and configure Compunetix and Cisco IOS equipment including routers, switches and firewalls. This individual will work on a team comprised of fellow network engineers, systems administrators, software developers and software testers who utilize lifecycle management frameworks to complete new IT projects and maintain existing infrastructure.

**Responsibilities**

+ Installation, configuration, and removal of switches, routers, firewalls, Compunetix MVP bridges and telephones in operational and test lab environments

+ Apply knowledge of enterprise system monitoring and management tools (Solar Winds, WireShark, etc.) to analyze network activity and problems

+ Use and incorporate broad technical knowledge of the diverse business areas within the enterprise in the assessment of network engineering technologies, computing systems hardware and software protocols

+ Provide the customer technical guidance and direction in the design and implementation of network solutions using advanced understanding of network theory and maintaining specific enterprise network architecture

+ Establish overall strategic network standards and priorities to maintain the network baseline; recommend network design changes/enhancements; and analyze the optimization of network systems performance

+ Provide high-level technical advice and guidance to managers and technical resources through which network technologies can be utilized to meet current and future organizational needs.

**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**

+ Bachelor or Master in a science and technology related discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or Computer Engineering

+ 9 years (with BS) or 7 years (with MS) of directly related professional experience

+ Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility

+ Must possess DoD 8570 baseline certification

+ Strong background in Microsoft Office tools and Visio

+ Record of success in contributing to the completion of programs and projects; ability to obtain results and make key recommendations

**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**

+ Good understanding of discipline process; information and data management, configuration control

+ Seasoned communicator with demonstrated record of success in leadership, followership, and working with contract representatives and government sponsors.

+ Ability to provide high-level summary of results and draw conclusions based on interpretation of data

+ Experience in IP-based telephony and/or Compunetix telephone systems
