Patient Advocateserved as a clinical liaison between the physician and patient whenever a physician ordered genetic testing. The physician or his nurse would contact Henderson and informed him of what test they want to order. The patient would be informed that testing would not be ordered until a benefit investigation was performed to see if the patient qualified for testing based on his or her insurance and how much the patient would have to pay out of pocket. Once a determination was made the patient would then be contacted by telephone to discuss his or her options and then the patient would be scheduled to come in to complete the required paperwork, to ask any questions they might have, and to have their samples collected and sent off for testing.
