The **Energy Center Operator - Mechanic** is responsible for supporting all utilities for the Tipp City site, including electric, water, steam, compressed air, refrigeration, air conditioning, fire protection and wastewater. The primary function is to troubleshoot, repair, and perform routine maintenance on Energy Center Equipment. Secondary duties include the operation of all Energy Center Equipment. The incumbent must be able to perform all duties with minimal or no supervision.
**What You’ll Work On**
+ Performs routine maintenance of Energy Center systems and equipment such as boilers, chillers, air compressors, steam systems, water softeners, pumps and HVAC systems.
+ Repair skills may include:
+ All types of piping including black iron, stainless steel, copper, PVC and flexible tubing; install various equipment components including: seals, bearings, o-rings, gaskets, adhesives, belts, chains, rollers, sprockets, gears and sheaves; troubleshoot repair / rebuild centrifugal / positive displacement pumps; weld stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum; fabricate guards, etc. out of sheet metal and Lexan; cutting of metal with a plasma cutter or torch; wire and repair electric motors; repair basic wiring and replace lighting fixtures and lamps; correct size fusing, motor overload protection and wire size per National Electric Code (NEC); read electrical schematics and wire directly from wiring diagrams; use of electrical and precision tools to complete assigned work.
+ Operates Energy Center equipment and related control systems; i.e., gas boilers, air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, water treatment systems, fire protection system, and wastewater pretreatment plant.
+ Performs various chemical tests on steam and water systems such as hardness, conductance, alkalinity, pH, etc.
+ Using the test results, maintains proper control of different steam and water systems to assure efficient Energy Center operation and provide high quality utilities for the site.
+ Follow all plant and department procedures, GMP’s and plant safety rules. Keep all work areas clean and neat. Housekeeping of the shop is the responsibility of everyone working in the area.
+ Lead other employees including directing other maintenance personnel on the job and providing OJT for employees new to the department.
+ Record and communicate shift activity in an organized manner.
+ Properly use the plant work order system and follow all stockroom procedures. Audit equipment and develop replacement part lists.
+ Work well with little supervision.
+ Other work related duties as assigned.
**Pay and Shift**
The hourly pay for this position is $33.00 per hour and shift is Monday – Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
+ High school diploma/GED
+ 4 years of work related energy center operations and maintenance experience
+ Ohio High Pressure Boiler or Stationary Steam Engineer License
+ Four years related experience is defined as operating and maintaining energy center type equipment such as boilers, refrigeration, air compressors, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic control systems in a similar environment or performing tasks similar to or the same as those required in this position.
+ Must be able to diagnose and repair the problem without shutting the site down or jeopardizing site operations, safety, or quality.
