Hardware Debug Test Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

+ Associate's degree or equivalent practical experience.

+ Testing and troubleshooting experience in a research and development environment and experience with product delivery lifecycles.

+ Experience with hardware evaluation methodologies, including development of test cases/suites, performance monitoring, test automation, and data analysis.

+ Experience with Linux or similar OS and scripting or programming.

Preferred qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering.

+ Experience working in a lab environment, knowledge of how to maintain the lab, and is knowledgeable about workplace hazards.

+ Familiarity with test equipment such as Loads, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, and automation of tests.

+ Ability to independently test and follow test plans with little to no direction.

+ Wide range of engineering testing skills to include acoustical testing, EMC, etc.

The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

You are a Hardware Debug Test Engineer ready to join Google's exceptional manufacturing, design and test team. You will provide support to the Technical Operations Team, assisting manufacturing and test engineers on new product bring-up and development which includes the setup, test, and troubleshooting of prototype systems down to component level. Testing environments will primarily involve electrical testing, but may involve other other engineering disciplines. You have strong knowledge for utilizing electronic test equipment such as digital scopes, and data acquisition systems. You will also be responsible for general lab maintenance in your area.

+ Assist engineers in design, development and evaluation of new products.

+ Perform bench level repair and bring-up on engineering prototypes; Prepare and execute diagnostic test plans while documenting results.

+ Execute DVT test plans such as signal integrity measurements and environmental tests; Generate and apply engineering change orders or other experimental reworks.

+ Assemble test fixtures, load banks, and other components common to product development.

+ Setup and maintain lab space, tools, and materials of a hardware R&D lab; Responsible for inventory management of prototype devices.
