Our location in **Santa Rosa** currently has an opportunity for a **Lab** **Supervisor** (Screening) within our Toxicology business unit. Mon - Frid. 10am – 6.30pm with over time. This role will assist the department manager in the daily operations of the screening department. The Lab Supervisor (Screening) must have a thorough understanding of all screening functions, procedures and workflows and is responsible for assisting the department manager in the day to day operations of the department. This position requires the ability to troubleshoot and solve day to day operational issues. The position requires a good technical knowledge of how immunoassay works and serves as a technical resource for instrument operators.
**WHAT YOU’LL DO**
+ Support all aspects of the screening workflow including reagent and consumable order and inventory management, aliquoting, operating the screening instruments, confirm labelling, review of results and reporting in Tox2,
+ Assists the department manager in the optimization of workflows to meet required 12-hour turn-around-time for screening samples.
+ Coordinates and assigns duties in consultation with the department manager.
+ Takes precaution to assure that tools and workstations are used appropriately to minimize potential injuries.
+ Train employees to achieved desired production metrics and reduce errors.
+ Assists department manager with staff scheduling to ensure that the right amount of personnel is available to handle projected and current sample volume to meet required turn-around-time.
+ Assists department manager with quality assurance related functions and investigation like resolving results inconsistencies, missing specimens and root cause analysis on pre-analytical and analytical related issues.
+ Helps with aliquoting and operating the chemistry analyzers when short-staffed.
+ Ensures staff members adhere to corporate policies, rules and regulations.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING**
+ Associate Degree in Science.
+ Prior lead or supervisory experience in a clinical or forensics laboratory setting.
+ Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in clinical laboratory science (ASCP), chemistry or toxicology.
+ Supervisory experience working in a large volume laboratory with at least 20 or more direct reports.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
+ Strong oral and written competencies.
+ Computer proficiency in Word and Excel.
+ Customer focus and service orientation
+ Strong people skills and conflict management.
