Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer on our team, you will design and develop power control systems that use live telemetry streams and large datasets to analyze and decide on dynamic power control strategies. You will also work with the Azure Systems Research Group to build prediction models for power and cooling optimization and collaborate with engineers across Microsoft to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our servers. **Responsibilities**

+ Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.

+ Maintain communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem of engineers.

+ Contribute to efforts to ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility.

+ Contribute to efforts to collect, classify, and analyze data with little oversight on a range of metrics (e.g., health of the system, where bugs might be occurring).

+ Maintain operations of live service as issues arise on a rotational, on-call basis.

+ Contribute to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.

**Qualifications**

**Required Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ 1+ years of cloud infrastructure development experience

**Other Requirements:**

+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ Experience in analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems

+ Experience in critical production online service environments

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
