**WHAT YOU’LL DO**

As **_Senior R&D ENGINEER_** , you will use a wide variety of technical skills and leadership skill to be a part of a product development program. This role requires skills in: **_technical reasoning, analyzing mechanical systems, designing mechanical systems, designing and running tests (e.g. mechanical and/or reliability testing), improving or resolving product features, documenting findings (e.g. protocol test reports, engineering memos)_** , and finding and updating documents in product management system. This role will also support internal and external customers (e.g. in supporting Marketing, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Regulatory, and Quality Assurance , Physicians, and managing vendors).

+ Conceptualize new devices using material knowledge and innovative mechanical design

+ Plan, coordinate, and execute activity in support of project goals

+ Conceive and build prototypes

+ Establish requirements and specifications

+ Run empirical and experimental analysis

+ Develop test methods and clinically relevant models

+ Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments

+ Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors

+ Support animal and bench testing and clinical evaluations

+ Identify and mitigate project risks • Maintain knowledge of the developing clinical environment (i.e. current treatment methods, evolving clinical needs etc.)

+ Investigate issues and define root causes in complex systems

+ Work with outside consultants, vendors, and the medical community

+ May manage and supervise technicians, co-ops/interns, and entry level engineers

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING**

**Required**

· 5+ years related work experience, primarily in R&D engineering

· Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization as well as:

+ Ability to work within cross-functional teams as an individual contributor in a fast paced, changing environment

+ Knowledge and understanding of a variety of engineering disciplines, theories and concepts, to support development of innovative approaches to problem solving

+ Project management skills

+ Project leadership

**Preferred**

+ Experience with modeling tools like SolidWorks preferred

+ Experience with a variety of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability preferred

+ Experience designing and testing medical devices preferred
