Epic Interface Engineer

The Integration Engineer plays a key role in providing support and maintenance of interfaces among clinical, financial and other support systems. Coordinates interface projects with affected departments and personnel. Reviews, corrects, reconciles and analyzes various clinical and financial system reports to assure that all interface activities between the clinical and financial systems are handled correctly for a smooth exchange of data that are core to the infrastructure of FirstHealth of the Carolinas. Responsibilities include: Determining the interface access needs and setup of system users, based upon the standards of the Information Systems Department. Working closely with application teams, subject matter experts, and third-party application experts to determine the business needs for interfaces, documentation requirements, and configure the interfaces per the requirements. Working with this group to diagnose and resolve interface-related issues, and participating in their projects as needed. Implement and support all aspects of the integration infrastructure. Provide technical leadership in identity management, EMPI functions, and community health record routing. Maintain, troubleshoot, install and repair information systems, including server hardware, system backups, storage, printer management, e-mail administration as it relates to interface system. Must have the ability to use business proven programming languages to solve complex interface requirements. Provides leadership in the installation and maintenance of interface configurations integrated within the environment, based upon the standards of the Information Systems Department. Assesses and evaluates current and future interface systems to be implemented that will enhance the productivity of corporate users. Maintains a current inventory of interfaces and data exchanges, along with what systems are involved in the interface or exchange. Documents, maps data flow, and maintains interface and data exchange documents for all projects. Reports all system problems to appropriate personnel and management, taking all the necessary steps to rectify any problem in a timely manner. Provides training and other information on interface management procedures so that everyone will be fully knowledgeable and can address or react to any problems when required. Performs all other related functions and special projects as required by management. Maintains extensive troubleshooting documentation for areas of responsibility in both paper and electronic format. Associate Degree in an Information Technology field or 5 years of healthcare experience in an information systems environment. Knowledge and experience in HL7, TCP/IP, FTP and SFTP and web services communication protocols. Interface development on an integration engine. Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology field, or equivalent preferred. Minimum of 5 years work experience and/or equivalent competencies with the following, working in hospital information with an understanding of translating data from one system to another, interfacing technics, clinical system workflow, working knowledge of interface technologies like HL7, XML, cold feeds and integration engine technologies in a UNIX environment. Advanced degree in Information Technology field may be considered in lieu of some work experience.Must have knowledge of troubleshooting and analysis tools and techniques. Experience with Unix operating system and various related shell required. Experience required with XML, HL7 and EDI (X12) transaction technologies. Knowledge of virtualization technologies and platforms, including VMWare. Experience required with backup and recovery tools and technologies. Experience with various Database tools such as SQL Manager, Oracle Manager required. Epic certification is required within 45 days of completing training. Level 1 Certification in one of the following Integration Engine technologies – eGate, Cloverleaf, InterSystems is required within 90 days of completing training.
